Reviews
Ken’s! Back to the Somebody Feed Phil tour if London! The family and I took a trip out to Dulwich, where we got to meet the man, the myth, the legend Ken himself. We mentioned we watched the show and had to come out. He was extremely friendly and told us what we had to get.
We went with the cod and chips. It was light and airy but also perfectly crisp and tasty. We read some reviews that the fish is great but the chips left something to be desired, well that wasn’t the case for us.
The chips were crispy and delicious. The fish hit the spot, but it could’ve used a little more flavor. More salt in the batter potentially, and the vinegar was a little lacking in flavor.
Either way, a lovely experience was had with the entire family.
Cod and chips was pretty nice. The fish was definitely better than the chips - crisp outside and tender inside. The chips were a bit oily and not as crunchy as I like. The tartare sauce was pretty average - tasted more like mayo and was a bit sour. Overall this is pretty good quality for London
Located in the charming Herne Hill neighborhood, Ken's Fish Bar offers fantastic fish with generous portions.
The fish is cooked to perfection. The fries are ok, and the option to choose between two vinegars adds a nice touch.
Remember to bring cash as they only accept cash payments which is a real bummer, I think that it's way over due in 2023 to actually accept cards, I also missed the option of sparkling water.
Overall, a solid 4/5 dining experience, especially compared to other fish and chips shops.
Whenever my daughter is on school holidays we seek out another London old skool chippie. Today we struck gold with Ken's Fish Bar. First of all what a nice bloke Ken is (I'm guessing it was him who served us today!). Secondly he had just reopened after returning from holiday and having the yearly maintenance and safety checks carried out on the cooking equipment. So today I assume it was nice fresh oil in the fryer. That resulted in the loveliest piece of cod we've had in a while. The batter was beautifully golden and crispy, cooked to perfection. Chips were just as nice. Size of fish and quantity of chips was good and price was reasonable. We sat outside at one of the two tables to eat our food. All-in-all a pleasant experience. Would definitely come again. Highly recommended.
We watch Somebody feed Phil and when we decided to go to London, I knew I had to go to Ken’s. I never expected such a great experience
The meal was incredible and Ken was awesome, he made sure we got the traditional experience. Ten star rating. I enjoyed more than Stone Hendge. Go see Ken, you won’t be disappointed
Love this place. Went on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. Very nice staff and the Cod was great.
Very good fish and chips. Large piece of cod very big and thick. £8 well priced. Though it was quite thick so it wasn't as flaky. Chips were good. Nice people and also Halal !! Thank you will try again.
It would be great if the place could start accepting card and online payments too.
